03.03.2626 at 09:21We live 50 meters away from this kita so since pregnancy we were hoping to get a spot here not just for the convenience of the location, but because of the apparently outstanding facilities, with a large and new building, large outdoor area, own kitchen and an educational approach that we like (Emmi Pickler). We did an early application in kindernet when our daughter was born, we emailed them, we called them. No response to the email, not even the usual response of other kitas just saying we don’t have spots, we will contact via kindernet if something becomes available. On the phone we spoke with the director, Daniel, who was very rude and arrogant. Still we thought the attitude of the director does not necessarily reflect the attitude of the rest of the staff, which is what ultimately matters because the caregivers are who stay with your kid. So we keep trying and despite we had to accept a spot in a Krippe 4km away as time to return to work was approaching, we sent a new application for the following year and assisted the open doors on 2nd March 2026. We were expecting to know more about their educational approach, their routines, the day-to-day of the kita. Instead this open doors were just to say how requested they are, how difficult it is to get a spot there, offering additional activities at an extra cost. They will tell you that they are fully booked for the next 6-12 months, and if you ask about a longer waiting period (e.g. 1.5 years) they will tell you that it’s too long to know. I guess the only way to get a different response is to enquire about the activities that require an extra payment… moreover, the facilities aren’t as great as they may seem from the outside, huge stairs and corridors but actually classrooms aren’t very big and equipment isn’t of good quality, it’s not well maintained in terms of cleanliness and tidiness. This made us realize how lucky we were not to be contacted in the first place so that we continued to search and found a place where parents aren’t allowed to enter the premises with street shoes, where tables, chairs and furniture are cleaned daily, where toys are also cleaned and disinfected regularly and there is a routine before lunch and afternoon snack time for kids to help tidying up each toy in its place, and most importantly where, during the initial viewing, the focus of the conversation is on the educational approach, on the kids and what matters for them in terms of the day care provided. We are immediately dropping our application and will continue to travel 4km for our baby to be in good hands, in a safe space where what matters is the wellbeing of the children in all aspects. And we will start to look for a similar place for kindergarten stage. So all I can say to them is thanks for not contacting us at all! Because we know that many kitas lack cleanliness and good equipment, and on top of that are small and old, so we would have likely settled with this one for being not as bad as other places may be, and we would have never found the day care our baby deserves. We now know that there is some good places and we won’t stop until we find the right one for 3-6 years as good as her current Krippe.
