Infanterix Moosach

Wir haben zwar noch keinen Platz, aber uns schon einmal sehr gut aufgenommen gefühlt.

Our experience was odd from the beginning to say the least. We were pressured to take a spot 6 months prior to what we applied for, meaning our son was a lot younger than we wanted to have him in daycare (“you have one hour to decide”). Fearful that we wouldn’t get the spot later on, we decided to give it a try. Our first meeting was not attended by the person (Leitung) initially proposed, but by somebody who didn’t seem to have much experience in getting all the information needed for a smooth transition (as in what can he eat and what can’t he eat yet, allergies etc.); we did most of the talking.

The facilities are ok, but the toys are very old and not very creative or sustainable, the books are all
falling apart, missing pages etc.; the daily routine seems lifeless and the staff is not very engaged with the children. While we were there, we had three different caretakers in three days (!) and only one permanent/senior one for all 12 children, some of them under the age of 1. A girl that was crying inconsolably wasn’t properly taken care of or the parents called, we were told she was having a “hard time adjusting”.

Especially for the breakfast where raw vegetables and big chunks of fruit were served, also to the kids under 12 months, was concerning to me as risk of choking for unsupervised children and my son, who was at the time not used to raw vegetables, as previously discussed but ignored by the staff.

For a child as young as my son, starting daycare is a big, sensitive transition as it is – not having reliable attachment figures makes the process a lot harder and raises concerns about his wellbeing during his time at this daycare, which is why, amongst other reasons, we quit and took him out. We tried to get out of the contract but were made to pay two extra months (5 in total!) even though we only stayed a week and finding a replacement is almost laughably easy in Munich. The administration team is extremely inflexible and not interested in an amicable solution for both sides, which we tried.

Since we’re still in the contract, we gather from the information emails that they have trouble supplying enough staff for the nursery and also at managing parents bringing in sick kids. Even though we’re still paying we’re very glad our son doesn’t go here.
