02.04.2525 at 17:13Chaotic place, my boy always liked going to creche but this kita he really dislikes and for the first time he doesn’t want to attend.
Turned out he doesn’t want to go because he is afraid of big kids that did things to him. Open concept means that any big kid can easily get ahold of the small ones when no one is around. We signed out from there because after the conversation with the staff we realized they just lie about it. The bullying is common knowledge between parents. Noone ever sees anything and their response was that they will give my three year old resources to help. I was appalled. I want my boy in safe environment. Not to mention that 60 kids running around with most of the space having no staff or any sort of control it is impossible to even know who is bullying him.
Basically kids are all in few rooms or outside and teachers are there. In halls and bathrooms there is no supervision only when they are passing by. My son was spending days hiding. And when you get the portfolio you will see all photos are made in one or two days and then just presented as some sort of their long term involvement. You can see that by the clothes that I removed in basement for the summer in March and yet somehow he is wearing it in April. Also there are dates behind the photos.
They also encourage that you bring favorite toy of the kid with you so he has some comfort – but that gets lost. His favorite hoodie disappeared, his shoes were destroyed by another kid because kids can just do whatever, two trucks were broken, book was made to pieces and lighting McQueen car was also gone.
In short – I assumed open space as an idea that kids can choose activity and I liked it. But it turned out to be Lord of the flies experiment with the survival of the fittest. Talking to the staff gets you nowhere because they just pretend they do not understand, lie, or make it about something else. Horrible experience. Will never forgive myself for putting my son there. I have him in therapy now.
